How far would you go to help your team to victory? Well, if you are an All Black’s fan then your faith is about to be sorely tested. Legendry All Black Sean Fitzpatrick is fronting the “Abstain for the All Blacks” campaign which encourages New Zealand fans to abstain from any sexual activity for the duration of the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

The campaign which is been driven by Telecom Corp, a team sponsor of the team, has been met with approval New Zealand Rugby Union (NZRU) yet it has fallen flat with the fans who have decided that there are some limits people not cross to help their team.

Telecom Corp marketing director Kieren Cooney explained the rational behind the concept “”We’ve tried to take a way that is fun and is absolutely tongue-in-cheek and is absolutely based on what, we think, is Kiwi humour,”

If fans chose to get behind the campaign then they will be given black rubber rings to show their support of the idea.

One All Black supporter, who identified himself as Grant, told news agency AFP in Wellington that the idea was simply “Dumb, dumb, dumb, that’s just dumb.”

A New Zealand herald online poll summed up the majority of the feeling out there. The poll, which attracted 10,000 votes sided against kicking sexual activity into touch with 92 percent of votes against the idea.

One person that voted in the poll summed up the feeling saying “”No, are you kidding?”
