TG4 Senior Championship – Quarter Finals (live on TG4)

Meath v Monaghan, St Brendan’s Park Birr, (Offaly), 2.00pm, (K Delahunty)

A last minute point left Meath heart broken in the Leinster Final but they have bounced back in fine fashion making light work of Sligo in the qualifiers. They will however face sterner opposition when they take on Ulster Champions Monaghan this weekend.

Monaghan have been impressive to date and in truth have one of the more complete fifteens in Ladies Football with no obvious signs of weakness anywhere in their team. Sharon Courtney is the rock upon which all decent performances are built and up front they have the deadly Ciara McAnespie to take responsibility and scores.

They have been there or thereabouts in League and Championship over the last few years but the Farney Ladies will be hoping that they can push on and capture their first Brendan Martin Cup since 1997.

Meath beat All-Ireland champions Dublin in the Leinster Championship semi-final and they will know that on their day they have the beating of any team.

Gráinne Nulty and Mary Sheridan will cause trouble but therein lies the problem as team captain Nulty is doubtful for the clash. If she loses out and with Monaghan spirits high following their Ulster Championships triumph, the odds will be against the Royal County.

Meath: I Munnelly, L McKeever, A Murray, O Sheridan, F Mahon, E Rahill, K Allen, K O’Brien, G Nulty (c), C O’Shaughnessy, E Duffy, S Bennett, J Rispin, M Sheridan, V McCormack

Monaghan: E Corrigan, G McNally, S Courtney, C Reilly, A McAnespie, N Fahy, L Connolly, A Casey, C Courtney, T McNally, E McCarron, C McConnell, C McAnespie, N Kindlon, C Mohan
