Liverpool step up chase for Sebastian Coates

Liverpool have switched their attentions to young Uruguay defender Sebastian Coates after seemingly missing out on Ryan Shawcross and Gary Cahill.

Coates, an International teammate of Luis Suarez was a member of the Uruguay team that won the Copa America this year, and the 20-year-old has attracted a lot of attention from European clubs following his performances in the tournament.

The defender is said to be keen to his current side, Brazilian club Nacional, is also attracting interest from Manchester City, Juventus, Lazio, Porto and Benfica.

Liverpool are moving quickly in the hopes of sealing the deal in the next few days with the player said to be valued in and around £10 million.
