Sheriff YC v Shelbourne FC preview

Despite playing away from home Shelbourne will feel very much at home tonight as they play Sheriff YC in the fourth round of the FAI Ford Cup at Tolka Park.

Having defeated Greystones 3-1 at the start of June in the last round of the competition and currently flying high in the First Divison Shels are in great form at the moment and come into the game full of confidence.

Manager Alan Matthews will no doubt try to mix things up with his squad selection as he tries to find the right balance with so many important fixtures down the road. He will have to plan without David Cassidy and Ian Ryan who are both suspended for the cup tie.

Their opponents, Sheriff YC, have also been on the crest of a wave recently. They will be playing in their third match in the competition when they face Shels. They saw off College Corinthian on their first outing and managed to defest Salthill Devon 2-1, comfortably the last time out.

However experience counts for a lot and you would have to think that Shels would have too many gears for Sheriff tonight. I do, and I fully expect Shels to overcome Sheriff and book their place in the next round of the competition.
