Former Shamrock Rovers striker Padraig Amond has completed a loan move to Accrington Stanley. The Carlow native played in Portugal last season with Pacos de Ferreira but he admitted that he was wanted a return home.
He played 17 times for Pacos in the Primeria Liga in Portugal whilst taking on the top teams including Porto, Sporting Lisbon and Benefica. He made his debut against Porto after signing from Sligo for an undisclosed fee. He scored his first goal in the Portuguese Cup against Leixeos.
The 23 year old striker was a prolific goal scorer in the League of Ireland and his form with Sligo got him noticed by Pacos.
The former Ireland U21 international has joined the League Two club on a season long loan.
