Greek side Olympiakos are set to make a fresh bid to sign Aston Villa midfielder Jean Makoun before the end of the transfer window. The Cameron international joined Villa in January but has failed to nail down a first team spot.
Makoun has started just seven games for Villa after being signed by Gerard Houllier from Lyon and he is yet to make a League appearance under new boss Alex McLeish this season. Olympiakos failed in a bid to sign him last week but it is understood that the Greek champions will re-ignite their interest in the midfielder with a last ditch attempt to secure his services on loan for the season.
The loan move would be with a view to a permanent deal and the player is understood to be interested in a move to Greece but McLeish is reluctant to lose any more fringe players. He did start Villa’s win over Hereford midweek and also admitted he would be willing to stay in England and fight for his place at Villa Park.
The real incentive for a move to Greece would be the fact that they are in the Champions League and he is almost certain of first team football.
