Man United and Liverpool are strongly featured in this week’s Premier League Team of the Week.
Have a look at this week’s best XI….
GK: Tim Krul
The young Dutch goal keeper has really shown his talent in recent weeks and continued his fine form on Sunday. Alan Pardew has kept the faith with the young shot stopper and he is repaying him with yet another string of fine saves, the best being a point blank save from Danny Murphy’s header.
RB: Jose Bosingwa
Chelsea might not be playing their best football at the minute but the Portugal right back is re-establishing himself after a lengthy lay off last season. His performance against Norwich was capped with a superb 30 yard strike to set the Blues on their way.
CB: Jonathan Woodgate
The former Leeds defender has hardly played in a few years but that isn’t showing so far with his new club Stoke. Another clean sheet helped his side to a late win against West Brom. He organised the defence and looks fit and sharp.
CB: Chris Herd
The young defender was thrown into the derby and he performed admirably. He showed calmness in a difficult position and going forward he was a constant threat, He could have stolen the points with a late header which just went wide.
LM: Samir Nasri
On debut, Nasri was simply outstanding in City’s demolition of Spurs. He set up three goals and looked to be already on the same wave length as his new team mates, he could form a formidable partnership with David Silva.
CM: Charlie Adam
Adam is what Liverpool have been looking for ever since Xabi Alonso left. He controlled the midfield on Saturday and he his wicked set pieces with lead to plenty of Reds goals this season. His in swinging corner was headed in by Skrtel and then he scored his first for Liverpool with a composed finish on his weaker foot.
CM: Jordan Henderson
His switch from Sunderland for a big fee might have had its toll on the young midfielder but he has started life at Anfield in confident fashion, playing on the right he has showed great professionalism and helped his side to a great start. Scored his first goal for the Reds with a well taken effort.
RM: Ashley Young
Another superb performance from Young, he now looks like an United player and has fit in really well. Scored two fantastic goals and was also directly involved in 5 of United’s eight against Arsenal.
ST: Edin Dzeko
Is this the same player as last season? It seems not, Dzeko’s breath taking performance at White Hart Lane was why Mancini coughed up £24 million for the Wolfsburg striker last January. 4 fantastic goals shows his new confidence and he can be a really good player for City this year.
ST: Wayne Rooney
What can you say? 152 goals now for Man United after a hat trick on Sunday. His all round performance was unbelievable and he is United’s main man in a group of talented youngsters.
ST: Leon Best
The Newcastle striker might not be the biggest name front man the Magpies has ever had but any time he has spent in the team he has preformed. Two goals against Fulham gave Newcastle their third win in a week and he is leading the line for Newcastle.
