Ireland will arrive in New Zealand for the 2011 Rugby World Cup sitting on their lowest ever position in the IRB World Rankings after slipping another place, below Scotland, to eighth.

The news comes on the back of a 20-9 loss to England at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday, their fourth defeat during their World Cup warm-up matches, following on from defeats to Scotland and France (twice).

Ireland could have slipped another place to ninth over the weekend had England’s victory margin been more than 15 points.
