Monday’s lunch time Transfer round up

The big news of the day so far has involved QPR. The Premier League new boys are set to sign Arsenal left back Armand Traore after the player was undergoing a medical at Loftus Road. The R’s are also chasing Shaun Wright-Phillips but Stoke City are also reportedly chasing the winger.

Newcastle are closing in on the capture of Italian international Davide Santon from Inter Milan. The 20 year old defender is set to move to Newcastle on a £5 million deal after Eric Pieters’ proposed move to St. James Park has broken down.

After their embarrassing defeat yesterday, Arsenal are looking to improve their defence. With the inevitable loss of Traore, Wenger has set his eyes on Chelsea defender Alex to boost his fragile back line. Bolton’s Gary Cahill has been heavily linked with the Gunners but their near rivals Tottenham are also in the hunt for the highly rated defender.

Chelsea’s Yossi Benayoun is nearing the Stamford Bridge exit door after the player’s agent confirmed the Israel international is in talks with numerous clubs. Chelsea are also reportedly in for a shock move for Wesley Sneijider.

Diego Forlan is closing in on a move to Inter Milan and flying to Milan for a medical this morning and reported Arsenal and Tottenham target Kaka has once again reiterated his desire to stay in Madrid.

Blackburn Rovers have pulled out of a move for Dallas FC defender George John while Celtic captain Scott Brown is close to signing a new contract at Celtic Park.
