Yossi Benayoun’s agent has confirmed the Chelsea midfielder is in talks with numerous clubs over a possible move away from Stamford Bridge. The Israel international joined from Liverpool last summer but has failed to break into Chelsea’s starting line up after a few injuries.

It is understood the midfielder could be set for a return to Anfield after it emerged that Liverpool and Arsenal were the two clubs speaking to the player. French champions Lille are another club apparently interested in the 29 year old. It is thought that a decision is to be made this afternoon on what club he will join.

A move back to Anfield could possibly pave the way for Raul Meireles’ exit. The Portuguese midfielder impressed at the back end of last season and has been a reported target of Chelsea following their failure to buy Luka Modric. Andre Villas-Boas is a admirer of the Liverpool midfielder and a move to Stamford Bridge could possibly be on the cards at around £11 million.

Benayoun indicated on Twitter that he is likely to leave Chelsea and the signs were clear when he gave his number 10 jersey to new signing Juan Mata.
