Munster begin the defence of their Celtic League crown on Saturday against The Dragons with kick off pencilled in for 7.45pm at Musgrave Park.
The newly named RaboDirect Pro 12 league provides a perfect opportunity for Irish duo John “The Bull” Hayes and Tomas O’ Leary to recover from their World Cup exclusion heartache.
Both men are likely to be included in the Munster squad to be named tomorrow whilst Johne Murphy is also likely to feature having recovered from a hamstring injury suffered whilst playing for the Ireland Select against Connacht recently.
Elsewhere, Declan Cusack is making good progress from a dead leg injury whilst Lock Ian Nagle is also doing well in his rehab from a shoulder injury. James Coughlan’s eye injury is also likely to receive the all clear from a specialist in the morning.
The Munster squad trained in UL this morning but BJ Botha and Darragh Hurley were absent and are expected to return in time for Round 2 of the RaboDirect Pro 12. Also, the unfortunate Ivan Dineen has recovered from a bout of sickness that precluded him from the action last weekend.
The only cloud on the Munster horizon is that Troy Smith is ruled out until the New Year with a knee injury and Smith is awaiting a date currently to go under the surgeon’s knife.
