Gordon D’Arcy is Ireland’s latest injury worry after the centre picked up a calf injury just before the squad left for New Zealand.
The Leinster star sustained the injury at the recovery session this morning, just before the squad began their journey to the their base in Queenstown, New Zealand.
The 31 year olds departure has now been delayed for 48 hours over concerns that the long haul flight could cause the injury to swell up.
An IRFU statement said: “Gordon D’Arcy’s departure to New Zealand has been delayed by 48 hours.
“The Ireland centre picked up a calf strain at a recovery session this morning prior to the Ireland squad departure for New Zealand.
“The injury was scanned and to minimise the possibility of any swelling on the flight, it has been decided that it is more prudent to allow the strain time to recover before he joins up with the Ireland squad in Queenstown.”
