Arsenal left it late in the day but they finally made a move in the transfer market as they sealed deals for Yossi Benayoun and Mikel Arteta.
Former Liverpool and West Ham midfielder Benayoun makes the move across London from Chelsea, joining the gunners on a season long loan deal.
The 31 year old only made 11 appearances for the Blues last season as an Achilles injury forced him to spend 6 months on the sidelines.
Meanwhile despite looking like the move might collapse earlier in the day Arsenal managed to finalise the signing of Arteta with the former Rangers star completing a 10 million move to the Emirates.
Earlier in the day Arsene Wenger had completed the signing of German international defender Per Mertesacker.
