Giovanni Trappatoni has named the Republic of Ireland team to play Slovakia at the Aviva on Friday night at 7:45pm.
There were no big shocks with Robbie Keane partnering Shane Long up front, the two players have been scoring recently so Trappatoni will be hoping they can continue there good run. Kevin Doyle may feel he has done nothing wrong for the Republic and should not of been dropped, but he has been injured and Long is in better form.
Kevin Kilbane stunning run of competitive matches in the green shirt has come to an end. Kilbane played 66 consecutive competitive international games a run stretching back to 1999; only England’s Billy Wright has achieved a longer unbroken run in competitive international football. Stephen Ward comes in for Kilbane who failed to recover from a back injury and will return to Derby County this afternoon.
