Godolphin have entered Lost In The Moment and Cavalryman for this season’s Emirates Melbourne Cup at Flemington on November 1. There have been 163 entries, including Dermot Weld’s Sense Of Purpose.

Sheikh Mohammed has yet to win “the race that stops a nation”, although he has gone close in recent seasons with the likes of Central Park, Give The Slip and Crime Scene.

“Lost In The Moment ran very well to be second in a Group Two at Goodwood and also ran well in the Ebor,” said trainer Saeed Bin Suroor.

“I think the faster ground in Australia will help him a lot, it’s the key to him and it wasn’t quick enough at York. On good ground he will run well and he will love two miles.

“Cavalryman is by Halling but we have been disappointed with him so far this season.

“We’ve been taking him to Germany and we hope that running over two miles might give him a chance.”

Luca Cumani has had the runnerup on two occasions and has entered Drunken Sailor, Bauer, Manighar and Sahara Sun. Brian Ellison has entered Ebor winner Moyenne Corniche and fifth placed Saptapadi.

Jessica Harrington’s Bob Le Beau and Weld’s filly Sense Of Purpose are the two Irish entries for the race.
