Non-league side Sheriff Youth Club have been kicked out of the FAI cup after fielding an ineligible player in their shock 3-2 victory over Shelbourne two weeks ago.

The Dublin side were drawn against Pat Scully’s Limerick side who will now receive a by into the semi-finals of the competition.

Any appeals from the amateur outfit or Shels must be made to the FAI by one o’clock tomorrow.

The reason for the failure to reinstate Shelbourne in the place of Sheriff is that they did not lodge the objection over ineligible player themselves and under FAI protocol the result stands but Sheriff are removed from the competition.
