Liverpool have been handed mixed injury news ahead of their away trip to Stoke on Saturday.
Captain Steven Gerrard could make his first appearance of the season but midfielder Charlie Adam, who has made an impressive start to life in a red jersey will miss the game following injuring himself whilst playing for Scotland.
Gerrard has suffered from a groin injury and has not taken any part in Liverpool’s good start to the season but his return will only improve their performances. His potential return comes with the news that Charlie Adam will miss the tricky game against Stoke. The Scotland midfielder is unlikely to even make the bench at the Britannia Stadium following a minor hip injury picked up in his country’s qualifier against Czech Republic. He missed Tuesday’s game against Lithuania and returned to Melwood to get treatment but it is likely that he will not be fit for the trip to Stoke.
Adam scored his first goal for Liverpool in their last game against Bolton Gerrard’s injury was rumoured to be career threatening but he has returned to full training and should be back in the team soon if not on the bench on Saturday.
