Heurelho Gomes is likely to leave White Hart Lane in January, Harry Redknapp has admitted.
The Spurs goalkeeper seems to have fallen to the number three shot stopper at the Lane but manager Redknapp denies the Brazilian has dropped down the pecking order.
Gomes has been hit and miss for Tottenham since his arrival in 2008 and top quality displays have been mixed with awful errors.
Redknapp has kept faith despite his errors but since the arrival of Brad Friedel, he is yet to play a league game this season.
He has not even been named on the bench for the games against Wolves and Man City and his career in England seems to be over as a return to Holland has been rumoured.
Speaking after their win on Saturday, Redknapp admitted that Gomes is likely to leave when the window opens in January. “He’s not happy and he’s eyeing a January move,” said Redknapp.
“If the chance comes for him to play elsewhere, I’m sure he’ll take it. “I’ve not bombed out Gomes and made him number three keeper but we decided Carlo Cudicini would be better on the bench.
“Gomes has trained hard but Friedel is fantastic. If ever there was a man who didn’t deserve those two beatings by Manchester United and Manchester City, it was him.”
Despite his unhappiness, the shot stopper could still get some game time in the Europa League for Spurs but it is unlikely and a move is very much on the cards.
