Bohemians seal FAI cup semi final spot

Dean Bennett and manager Ian Foster were sent off as Dundalk crashed out of the FAI cup in extra time at the hands of Bohemians.

Following last Friday night’s 0-0 draw in Oriel Park another closely fought encounter was anticipated however both sides were keen to get this one over in regulation team with both teams showing their eagerness early on.

However After almost 200 minutes without a goal, the deadlock was finally broken when Anto Flood’s scored on 18 minutes into extra time to send Bohemians into the semi finals along with Pat’s, Sligo Rovers and either Limerick FC or Shelbourne.

Bohemians: Barry Murphy; Mark Rossiter, Liam Burns, Aidan Price, Owen Heary; Killian Brennan, Robert Bayly, Glenn Cronin, Ger O’Brien (Keith Buckley 66 mins); Aidan Downes (Christy Fagan 85 mins), Anto Flood.

Dundalk: Peter Cherrie; Carl McHugh, Dean Bennett, Cian Byrne, Simon Madden; Nathan Murphy, Greg Bolger, Johnny Breen, Keith Ward, Mark Quigley; Mark Griffin (Jason Byrne 66 mins).
