AC Milan are set to make a €15m move for Tottenham’s Dutch forward Rafael van der Vaart in January with reports suggesting Harry Redknapp would be willing to sell the former Real Madrid player.
After a superb first season where he was integral to Redknapp’s attack, van der Vaart could find starting opportunities harder to come by this year as questions emerge about his position in Spurs’ starting line up.
Scott Parker’s arrival at White Hart Lane has been lauded by Redknapp while Emmanuel Adebayor’s presence has reignited Jermain Defoe and it is unlikely Redknapp will move Luka Modric to accommodate the Dutchman.
Milan’s made their interest clear to van der Vaart’s representatives over the summer but he insisted he had no interest in moving but Tottenham would happy to sell at almost twice the price they paid for him in 2009.
Van der Vaart has already shown signs of unrest at White Hart Lane, declaring himself “annoyed” at Redknapp’s decision to leave him out of the Europa League squad and leaving his side with ten-men to fight off the Manchester City onslaught in last month’s 5-1 thrashing after injuring his hamstring and walking off the pitch with no substitutions left.
