Championship strugglers Doncaster have placed manager Sean O’Driscoll and his assistant Richard O’Kelly on gardening leave and have placed former Wrexham manager Dean Saunders in charge for tomorrow’s home game against Crystal Palace.

A club statement read: “It is with regret that the shareholders have taken the decision based on the long run of poor results, that Sean O’Driscoll and Richard O’Kelly be put on gardening leave.

“They felt that action needed to be taken to address the current position. They would like to thank Sean and Richard for all their work during the five years at the club including winning at the Millennium Stadium and Wembley.”

Former Republic of Ireland midfielder O’Driscoll have been in charge of Doncaster since 2006 and earned a solid reputation for his brand of passing football however Rovers have been in decline since a poor run of form last season and currently sit bottom of the Championship with just one point from their opening seven games
