Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal all won in saturday’s Premiership action as Fernando Torres continued his mixed return to form. The Spanish star, scored for the second game running however he was later sent off.

Manchester City needed goals from second-half substitutes Mario Balotelli and James Milner to beat Everton 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium in Saturday’s early kick off, the result took Roberto Mancini’s side top of the table for a number of hours at least.

Chelsea ran out 4-1 winners over Swansea with Didier Drogba joining Torres on the scoresheet while Arsenal beat Bolton 3-0 thanks to a brace from Robin van Persie, Liverpool who got back to winning ways with a nervy 2-1 win over Wolves and Spurs who beat Wigan by a similar score line also won.

Demba Ba finally made his mark on St James’s Park as he scored a hat trick for Newcastle in their win over Blackburn while WBA and Fulham poor early season form continued with a goal less draw at the Hawthorns.
