Ireland ensured that the momentum gained from last weekend’s win over Australia continued as they ran in 9 tries to beat a spirited Russia side by 50 points to remain on course to top Pool C.

Keith Earls grabbed a brace as Fergus McFadden, Sean O’Brien, Isaac Boss, Andrew Trimble, Rob Kearney, Shane Jennings, Tony Buckley also crossed the white line to give Ireland a comfortable 62-12 win.

Ireland ensured they got a bonus point as they scored three tries in three minutes at the end of the second half against a Russian team that was playing its third game in just 11 days.

The result means Ireland are three points clear at the top of the table with the clash with Italy to come.
