USA Swimming announced today that Gráinne Murphy has been selected to represent Europe in the 2011 ‘Mutual of Omaha’ sponsored Duel in the Pool competition (Europe vs. USA) which takes place in Atlanta, Georgia from 16th – 17th December.
Murphy will form part of the 22—member women’s team from Europe and this is a huge honour for the Ballinaboola, Wexford teenager.
This is the first time Ireland has ever had a swimmer as part of the European Duel in the Pool team. To date, there are athletes from 14 countries within Europe taking part in this competition
A decision as to which events she will compete in will be taken at a later date.
The European All-Star team will be comprised of up to 22 men and 22 women,and in addition to Grainne Murphy, will include World Championship swimmers from Great Britain, the Netherlands, Poland, Belarus, Denmark, Austria and Lithuania.
