Spanish outfit Malaga are set to test the resolve of Liverpool’s American owners by placing a £20million bid for their goalkeeper Pepe Renia.

The move, which has been described in some quarters as too good to turn down, is been funded by Malaga’s new mega rich owner, who along with manager Manuel Pellegrini want to challenge Real Madrid and Barcelona in coming years and Renia is seen as the first piece in the jigsaw.

Renia 29, has been a mainstay at Liverpool for a number of years and has been one of their most consistent players in recent times. While Liverpool will not want to lose such a high profile name in January, manager Kenny Daglish may choose to cash in on Renia and spend the money further developing his squad as they look to re challenge at the top of the Premier League.
