Ireland hooker Rory Best is a major doubt for Ireland’s quarter final meeting with Wales on Saturday morning with a shoulder injury.
The Ulster captain, who played a leading role in the 36-6 defeat of the Italians, was forced off the field after 54 minutes having done damage to his shoulder.
Confirming the bad news, Ireland team manager Paul McNaughton said “”Rory’s doubtful for the weekend but we haven’t written him off just yet. We’ll assess it tomorrow (Tuesday) and have more information then.
“He’s definitely doubtful, he’s getting manipulation at the moment. We’ll have a better idea tomorrow after a morning’s treatment.”
If Best is rule out it would be a big blow to the Irish forward line who have already lost Jerry Flannery already with another calf injury.
