Ireland rise up World Rankings

On the back of their 30 point drubbing of Italy at the weekend Declan Kidney’s Ireland team have risen to fifth in the lastest IRB rankings that were released today.

Ireland are now only behind the three Tri Nations teams and England in the rankings after going undefeated throughout Pool C at the Rugby World Cup.

Tonga and France are the main movers with Les Bleus have falling three places to eight after suffering defeats to New Zealand and more surprisingly Tonga in their Pool. Tonga meanwhile have jumped from 13th to 9th after a number of impressive displays in New Zealand.
