Cape Blanco retired to stud

Cape Blanco, a triple Grade 1 winner in America this year, has been this evening retired after he suffered a career ending injury in the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic at Belmont Park on Saturday.

Annmaire O’Brien tweeted “Cape Blanco has been retired to stud following an injury he sustained when winning the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic at Belmont.”

The son of Galileo retires to stud the winner of five Group/Grade 1 races having also won the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby and the Irish Champion Stakes last year to add to his top level victories.

Jointly owned by Mrs F Hay,D Smith,Mrs J Magnier,M Tabor, Cape Blanco won 9 of his 14 career starts and just over £2 million in winning earnings.
