On loan Lille midfielder Joe Cole has made it clear that if he has the chance then he would like to make his move away from Liverpool permanent after adapting well to life in France.

The former England regular is enjoying a new lease of life with the Ligue 1 side where he is on a one-year loan deal, however, Cole has indicated that he would like to make the switch permanent.

Cole struggled with form and injury last season with Liverpool after joining them on a free transfer in the summer of 2010. The former Chelsea midfielder failed to command a regular spot in the first team and was barely included under Kenny Dalglish.

Liverpool were happy to let the midfielder leave during the summer although they blocked a move to London side Spurs. The Anfield giants were keen to get him off their wage bill and it is largely expected that they will be happy to let the player leave at the end of the season.

“I could join Lille permanently,” he said. “If they are happy with me, and vice versa, I don’t see why not.
