Ireland hooker Rory Best has been cleared to start against Wales in Saturday’s World cup quarter-final after a further assessment in Wellington on Thursday.

The 29-year-old was forced off during the game with Italy with a sprain to the AC joint in his shoulder and was initially named in the starting line-up on Wednesday despite Declan Kidney being unsure at that stage about his participation.

However with Kidney now satisfied with the health of Best it means that Sean Cronin will now take his place amongst the replacements.
