Manchester United are lining up a move for Dutch striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel, according to reports.
The Sporting Lisbon striker is a highly rated young Dutch international who a number of big clubs have been monitoring. According to reports, the hierarchy at the Portuguese club are fearing they will lose one of their biggest assets during the summer and that Sir Alex Ferguson has sent numerous scouts over to watch van Wolfswinkel play. A swoop in January or during the summer transfer window is expected and a fee of £16 million is the expected asking price.
Liverpool, Inter Milan and Roma are other interested parties but Man United are surely the biggest attraction. The 22 year old has impressed so far this season in Portugal and is a star for the future. United already have several top strikers at Old Trafford but such a move could spell the end of the likes of Michael Owen, Kiko Macheda or Dimitar Berbatov.
