Nottingham Forest are lining up a stunning move to bring Nigel Clough back to the City ground as their new Manager.
Clough has enjoyed a solid start to the season with Derby and currently sits in the play off places and Forest look set to make an official approach to their local rivals for permission to speak to their manager about an emotional return to the club where not only did he play but also where his father Brian managed.
It is thought Clough junior may be willing to accept the challenge even though Forest are currently in disarray after a disastrous start to the season under the guidance of the recently departed Steve McClaren.
The former Burton Albion manager is in the last year of his contract at Pride Park and it is thought that compensation should not be an issue for Forest, who are keen to get the right man after their seven-game McClaren mistake.
Forest will offer Clough, who has done well with a small budget at Pride Park, a big transfer bounty to lure him to the city ground
Another positive would be the warm welcome that Forest fans would give the new man who would not need to move too far with his family settled in Derby.
