Manchester United are keeps tabs on Juventus’s Italian International midfielder Claudio Marchisio as they line up a January move.
Sir Alex Ferguson has repeatedly been linked with an Italian shopping spree as he looks for midfield reinforcements however Wesley Sneijder has long been the target, however with Inter Milan so far holding firm in their desire to keep the Dutchman the Scot now looks set to switch his sights.
The 25 year old Marchisio has come through the youth ranks at Juventus and his strong performances in the opening weeks of the season have been instrumental in the Old Lady’s surge to the top of the table.
Marchisio is a box to box midfielder who would bring steel to the United midfield and with midfielder also showing he has an eye for goal Ferguson could be tempted to splash the cash.
United currently have a number of options in the middle of the field with Darren Fletcher, Anderson, Tom Cleverly and Michael Carrick all vying for a starting spot however Ferguson does not seem to rate Carrick while Cleverly is still learning his trade despite an impressive start to the season.
It remains to be seen if Ferguson will follow up his interest with a January move although any signing would costs in the region of £20m.
