Despite this being an International break, betting on who will be the first premiership manager to lose his job hasn’t stopped with Steve Bruce now favourite along with Steve Kean to be the first man to get the dreaded sack.

Despite bringing in a number of new faces during the summer transfer window, including big names such as John O’Shea, Sebastian Larsson, Nicklas Bendtner and Wes Brown Sunderland have struggled to gel so far as a unit winning just once in their opening seven games.

After drawing their opening game against Liverpool, Sunderland went down to Newcastle and crashed out of the Carling cup at the hands of Brighton.

A 4-0 win over high flying stoke looked to be a turning point however a defeat away to Norwich following by a home draw with West Brom leaves Sunderland currently sitting in 16th spot with Bruce now 5/4 to be the first manager to leave his post.

His nearest rival for the sack would appear to be Steve Kean, who despite a win over Arsenal not to mention a public backing from the Venky’s had yet to hit the heights this season at Ewood Park.

Owen Coyle’s difficult start to the season aided in no part by a difficult fixture list that has included Manchester pair of City and United, Liverpool and Chelsea and with just one so far this season the Scot is under pressure to turn things around.

The great sack race:
Steve Kean 5/4
Steve Bruce 5/4
Owen Coyle 10/1

Nominated for 2011 Realex Web Awards
