The Republic of Ireland secured a European Championship qualifying play-off spot after a 2-1 victory over Armenia in Dublin to finish second to Russia in Group B.

France needed a late Samir Nasri penalty in a 1-1 draw with Bosnia-Herzegovina in their final qualifier to reach next summer’s finals.
Bosnia needed a win to advance directly, while France needed only a draw. It was Bosnia’s Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko who opened the scoring in Paris just before half-time. However, Samir Nasri’s second-half penalty sent a nervy France into the finals, finishing top of Group D, one point ahead of Bosnia.

Denmark snatched the automatic spot up for grabs in Group H at the expense of Portugal, after defeating Cristiano Ronaldo’s team 2-1 in Copenhagen.

Sweden shattered Holland’s hopes of finishing Group E with a 100% record, the Swedes’ 3-2 win ensuring they also qualified as the best runners-up.

David Silva scored twice as the already qualified Spain ended Scotland’s faint Euro 2012 qualifying hopes with a 3-1 victory.

In Group C, Antonio Cassano scored twice as the already-qualified Italy eased to a 3-0 win over Northern Ireland in Nigel Worthington’s last match in charge.

Tottenham’s Gareth Bale scored the only goal as Wales finished their Euro 2012 campaign strongly with a great 1-0 away win to Bulgaria.
