The draw took place this afternoon in Poland for the Euro2012 play-offs. The Republic of Ireland will play Estonia in Tailin for a place in Poland and the Ukraine next summer.
Its the perfect draw for the Republic getting the weakest team and also having the second leg at home. Giovanni Trapattoni’s will be away in the first leg on Friday, 11 November, with the return tie at the Aviva Stadium on Tuesday, 15 November.
Speaking after the draw, Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni said, ‘It is extremely positive for Ireland that we will play the first leg away. We should not underestimate our opposition, or any team, including Estonia, to have made it through to the play-off, they must have quality and mental sortitude. Our build up to this stage of the competition has shown us the importance of organisation, attention to detail, and self-belief. That will be vitally important to us as we prepare for these games in November.’
Further information on ticketing for both legs of the play off will follow. Discussions will take place with the Estonian FA in the coming days to determine allocations for away fans.

Star player: Konstantin Vassiljev (Amkar Perm)
The lowest ranked of all the sides in Pot2, and probably the team that most teams hoped for. Grouped with Northern Ireland, Serbia, Slovenia and Italy, the Estonian’s finished second in the group despite losing four matches and beat the Northern Irish 4-1 at home and 2-1 away. Vassiljev scored both goals at Windsor Park after coming on as a substitute and has scored 14 goals in 46 games for his country.
