The top three were all in action as Premier League football returned to Saturday’s following the international football break.
In the early kick off Manchester United surrendered top spot but ended their Anfield losing streak as they came from a goal down to rescue point against Liverpool. Steven Gerrard had given Liverpool the lead with a free kick midway through the second half however substitute Javier Hernandez rescued a point with a header from a Nani corner.
Neighbours Manchester City are the new leaders of the premier league as they ended the unbeaten run of Aston Villa with a comfortable 4-1 win over the Midlander’s. Goals from Mario Balotelli, Adam Johnson, Vincent Kompany and James Milner sealed the win with Stephen Warnock scoring Villa’s consolation.
Bolton earned their first win since the opening day of the season with a 3-1 win over Wigan, David Ngog amongst the scorers for Owen Coyle’s since the opening day of the season.
Meanwhile Chelsea enjoyed a similar win at home to Everton, Daniel Sturridge scoring in the win.
Irish pair Jon Walters and Rory Delap scored in the final 10 minutes to give Stoke a 2-0 win over Fulham while another Irish international, U21 star Anthony Pilkington scored twice for Norwich as they beat fellow newly promoted side Swansea, 3-1 at Carrow Road.
Finally QPR and Blackburn shared the points at Loftus Road, Christopher Samba’s 24th minute goal cancelling out Heidur Hegluson’s early effort.
