Brighton are ready to renew their interest in Leeds United striker Billy Paynter after missing out him during the summer transfer window.

The out of favour 27 year old has slipped down the pecking order at Elland Road asthe likes of Ross McCormack, Luciano Becchio and Mikael Forssell are all ahead of him.

Despite only scoring only one goal for the club Leeds refused to let Paynter go in the summer, however Brighton manager Gus Poyet feels that he could finaly land his man come January “”It seems like Leeds don’t want him,” Poyet told the Daily Mirror.

Bringing in Paynter would be a boost for Poyet as he has seen his side slip down the table after a hugely impressive start to the season.
