Former France international footballer Tony Vairelles has been arrested, along with three others, on suspicion of attempted murder.
The ex French star along with some friends were detained by police following a shooting in a nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Vairelles, 38, was drinking with a number of friends when they were asked to leave the establishment they were drinking at around 3am for drunken behaviour. The group then returned and confronted the bouncers that were on duty. They used baseball bats to attack doorstaff, who responded by using pepper spary on the group.
During the scuffle one person was wounded in the thigh, another in the hand, while a third man suffered more serious injuries to the side,
Vairelles along with his fellow co accused were remanded in custody and will appear in court on Tuesday, a police source said.
Vairelles was born in Nancy, and went on to play for local side AS Nancy, before spells with both Lens and Lyon.He also won the French title with Lens in 1998 and with Lyon in 2003, and won eight caps for France.
