Offaly football manager Gerry Cooney is confident that star forward Niall McNamee will row back on his decision to quit inter-county football.
McNamee suprisingly quit the panal citing furstratin and annoyance at the length of time that it took to find a replacement for former manager Tom Cribbin. However speaking to the Irish Daily Mirror Cooney feels that McNamee will chance his mind and come back into the fold.
“All the players are available and everybody knows how important Niall McNamee is to Offaly football so there’s no doubt in my mind whatsoever where his interest lies,” he said in the Irish Daily Mirror.
“He’s carrying a bit of an injury at the moment and when he gets over that he’ll be back pushing for a place like everybody else. I’ve spoken to all the players and it would be my intention to get the best players in Offaly available and I don’t expect any problems in that regard.”
