Michael Owen is set for yet another spell on the side lines as it has been confirmed that the England striker will be out for 6 weeks.
The 31 year old suffered the injury during United’s 2-0 win over Otelul Galati but it was thought the injury was not that serious and being taken off was a precaution. The news is yet another blow for the striker who despite playing very little for the Premier League champions, has a good goal scoring record.
He will be out of action until at least the Boxing Day clash with Wigan at Old Trafford. A club spokesman’s confirmed the news on their official website “Michael has a thigh muscle injury and will be out for six weeks or so.” If the news is true that he will miss 6 weeks then he will miss a total of nine games including the Carling Cup tie with Crystal Palace which he surely would have featured in.
Owen joined United during the summer of 2009 and has scored 17 goals in 52 games with his most famous goal being the winner in the 4-3 derby win over City.
