Bayern Munich has tried and failed to prise Manchester Utd winger Nani away from Old Trafford, according to Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
According to reports in Germany Bayern had a real interest in the player only for his valuation to sore and price him out of Bayern’s range. Rumenigge said: “We had an interest in Nani, but unfortunately the price went up and up so he was too expensive.”
Bayern are just the latest club to make their interest in Nani public. Only two weeks ago reports emerged that Serie A clubs Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan were willing to pay upwards of £30 million for the 30 year old.
Nani’s position at Utd has become unstable with the presence of Antonio Valencia in the team and also the summer purchase of Ashely Young from Aston Villa. The 51 times capped Portugal international has found himself part of a rotation system at Utd and could be eager to get more regular first team action.
