Stories linking ex Kilkenny star James ‘Cha’ Fitzpatrick with a move to Dublin appear to be false.
The Ballyhale Shamrocks man yesterday announced that he was leaving his native county and intended on spending some of his free time travelling around the world.
There had been speculation that ‘Cha’ would make a sensational move to the Dubs, as he works and lives in the capital, however it seems that these rumours have fallen flat.
Outlining his reasons for his retirement from inter-county hurling Fitzpatrick said “I haven’t been able to nail down a place for a while, and as I don’t think I am getting any faster, it is time to go.
“No matter what I did in training last year, no matter how well I played, it didn’t seem I was going to get a go at all.
“If I was to go back next year I’d find the motivation very hard because deep down I felt inside no matter what I did in training it didn’t seem I was going to get picked.”
