Giovanni Trapattoni’s Republic of Ireland team have moved up to 21 in this month’s FIFA World Rankings.
The news that the Irish team has moved up to 21, a jump of 4 places, is good news for the FAI ahead of the European Championships in the summer.
Spain remain at the summit of the rankings, with the Netherlands following closely behind and Germany taking third place.
After victories over Spain and Sweden, England are in the top five, which will be a welcome boost ahead of the European Championships.
Scotland have gone up 2 places to 49, while Wales have gone down 5 and occupy 50th place.
Northern Ireland continued their slump down the rankings by dropping 5 places to 89, meaning whoever takes the reins at Windsor Park will have a serious job on their hands.
Ireland is 74/1 to win Euro 2012 on Betfair, while England have much more favourable odds at 11/1.
