Ireland led slip a two stroke lead as the USA fought back to claim the 2011 Golf World cup.

Matt Kuchar and Gary Woodland final round of 67 which included six birdies and a bogey at the Mission Hills Resort on Hainan Island was enough for the US to finish 24 under par and lift the trophy for an incredible 24th time.

Germany and England finished runners up with Ian Poulter and Justin Rose producing a stunning 63 to finish just two shots behind the winners.

The Irish duo of duo Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell, meanwhile, finished three shots off the US as they went round in an even-par 72, their score of 21 under leaving them in fourth place alongside Scotland, Holland and Australia.
