HAVING offered beleaguered punters free petrol on Budget Day last year, Betfair are ‘branching out’ in their latest approach to help reduce the pain of ‘Budget 2012’. From 11am on Tuesday, the betting exchange will be giving away high quality, Irish-grown Noble Fir Christmas trees.
The first 200 punters to arrive at the former Veterinary College in Dublin’s Ballsbridge area will receive a tree absolutely free. The site, which is under the control of NAMA, is situated opposite Ballsbridge Motors on Shelbourne Road. With a recommended retail price of €60, the trees are expected to fly out the gate.
Betfair spokesman Barry Orr commented today: “The irony of Christmas trees being given away on the most expensive site ever sold in the State, on the day when €3.8 billion euros is being removed from our economy, will not be lost on the public.”
“Last December, we gave away free petrol to help punters ‘Beat the Budget’ and that received such a terrific response that this time around, with Christmas in mind, we wanted to put the smile back on people’s faces by offering something not just for motorists but consumers in general.”
I’m sure the trees are going to go fast so people need to make sure they get down early to avoid disappointment!’’
‘’Finally, thanks to Ballsbridge Motors for allowing us distribute the trees from the site’
