Doug Howlett out for the season

Updated: December 6, 2011

Munster suffered a huge blow this evening with the news that Doug Howlett will miss the remainder of their season.

The Kiwi legend was taken off after suffering an ankle injury in their defeat to the Ospreys on Saturday night. Further tests have now revealed that Howlett ruptured his Achilles and will required surgery on it which will take place in Dublin. No time frame has been given for the winger’s return to action

It is the latest blow for an already injury hit Munster squad. Howlett joins Felix Jones, David Wallace and Jerry Flannery on the long term injury list at Thomand Park. Darragh Hurley is also expected to be on the sidelines for a further three months after hurting a disc in his back.
