Quito De La Roque to miss John Durkan

Updated: December 6, 2011

Grade 1 winner Quito De La Roque will miss this Sunday’s John Durkan Chase at Punchestown after failing to appear in the declarations for the big race.

The Colm Murphy trained gelding landed the Jnwine.com Champion Chase from subsequent Tingle Creek winner Sizing Europe at Down Royal on his seasonal debut, however his trainer feels that the John Durkan may come too soon for his stable star.

Murphy said “We have decided he won’t run on Sunday as it might be a bit too soon for him after his race at Down Royal last month.  I’m very happy with him and the plan now is he’ll go straight for the Lexus all being well.”

Among the horses to stand their ground are the Willie Mullins pair of Kempes and Cooldine, along with Joncol, Tranquil Sea, Roi De Mee, Rubi Light and Trafford Lad.
