England set to name interim coach

Updated: December 8, 2011

The English RFU are set to name Stuart Lancaster as their interim coach for the 2012 Six Nations.

Lancaster will take over from Martin Johnston who resigned following England’s poor performance on and off the pitch at the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. He is set to be joined by Graham Rowntree and Sarcaens head coach Andy Farrell.

The trio will be handed the reins for the Six Nations with the RFU aiming to have a full-time appointment in place for the summer tour to South Africa.
Lancaster’s first job will be to finalise England’s 32-man elite playing squad for the Six Nations, which England will face Scotland in the opening round.
