Blackstairmountain wins on chase debut

Blackstairmountain made a winning debut at Clonmel this afternoon in what was the middle leg of a treble for the Ruby Walsh and Willie Mullins combination.

The six year old gelding was sent off at the prohibitive odds of 8/15 and depsite a blunder at the second last he was always firmly in control and he hardly came off the bridle to land the odds from 100/1 shot Marble House.

Speaking after the race, trainer Willie Mullins was pleased with what he had saw “Bar the mistake at the second last he seems to have taken to jumping fences well and I’d say we’ll keep him to that sort of trip.”

Blackstairmountain was introduced at 25-1 with Boylesports and 20-1 with Paddy Power for the Arkle Chase at the Cheltenham festival.
